CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HUELVA PORT AUTHORITY
WAYS OF ACTING
The Law on Ports and the Merchant Navy, the Consolidated Text of which was approved by Royal Legislative Decree 2/2011, of 5 September, recognises the existence of a Port-City interrelationship, whose inspiring principle is to achieve a more pragmatic regulation of the public port domain and to strengthen the links of the Port Authorities with the city and with the needs of its Stakeholders.
Along these lines, the Port Authority, in the sphere of Port-City interaction and in accordance with the current Strategic Plan of this Public Body and the provisions of the Corporate Social Responsibility Plan, approved by its Board of Directors at its meeting on 11 December 2013, and revised by agreement of the same body at its meeting on 11 December 2013, has been attending to different initiatives that are of interest to it, implementing strategies that allow a rapprochement and collaboration with citizens in the areas it has considered most appropriate (sports-social and cultural-educational), all as one of the actions to achieve the objective of “Achieving a recognised, valued and positioned image in the environment of the Port of Huelva”.
In order to carry out this Corporate Social Responsibility policy, the Port Authority concentrates its efforts on two formulas for action:
On the one hand, an “Annual Call of the Port-City Commission” is held annually, to select those initiatives which, due to their social relevance and being of interest to the Port Authority of Huelva because of their relationship with port activity and scope, can be framed within the provisions of the Corporate Social Responsibility Plan, with the aim of causing an effective and real integration of the Port in its citizen environment, attending to non-profit institutions working for the benefit of society and requesting support for activity projects in the aforementioned sporting-social or cultural-educational fields.
On the other hand, a second line of action is maintained, in the aforementioned sense, which allows associations, institutions and private companies or entities that approach the Port Authority for this purpose, the possibility of formalising private sponsorship contracts with the Port Authority, in accordance with the modalities laid down in Law 34/1988, of 11 November, General Law on Publicity, modified by Law 29/2009, of 30 December and other legislation applicable to these effects, which generate media repercussions for the ‘Port of Huelva’ brand, improving its competitiveness from a commercial point of view, as well as its valuation by the citizens, in accordance with the strategic lines of Competitiveness and Relationship with the Environment of the current Strategic Plan.
Making these initiatives known in the terms of this presentation and maintaining open channels for their dissemination is configured as the best way to achieve their intended purpose, within a framework of competition and transparency that guarantees absolute respect for the principles that govern public action, which is the reason for the existence of this web portal where the corresponding calls of the City Port Commission will be available, as well as any information and dissemination of our activity that may be necessary to carry out the policy of Corporate Social Responsibility that this Port Authority has decided on.
PORT CITY CALL
By means of the “Annual Call of the Port-City Commission”, the Commission selects those initiatives which, due to their social relevance and being of interest to the Port Authority of Huelva, because of their relationship with port activity and scope, can be framed within the provisions of the Corporate Social Responsibility Plan, with the aim of provoking an effective and real integration of the Port in its civic environment, attending to non-profit institutions which work for the benefit of society and request support for activity projects in the aforementioned sporting-social or cultural-educational fields.
